About

Hannah Zizza is a Seattle-based figurative artist working primarily in the mediums of painting and collage. Rooted in her own perspective as a queer woman, her work often centers on the use of the female nude as a means of addressing cultural perceptions around gender and sexuality in intersection with other topics including environmentalism and animal rights. In doing so, she makes use of the concept of appropriation, reimagining imagery and tropes from across time and cultural context in surrealist scenes that recast established roles of subject vs. object, reclaiming the use of the body as a means of empowerment and self expression.
